A little Wu Tang reference for all the old schoolers out there. But to business. The Giants will be charging season ticket holders a one-time fee of at least $1,000 to keep those tickets once the team moves to the new stadium, currently being constructed in East Rutherford, N.J. for the 2010 season. It’s called a Personal Seat License, and it’s becoming a popular way for NFL teams to finance new buildings.

So what does this mean for Jets season ticket holders?

The Jets are splitting construction costs with the Giants 50/50, and they don’t have any magical way to finance the debt for the $1.6 billion stadium any better.

So Jets fans, get out the checkbooks.

“We are currently studying the use of PSLs as a financing option for the new stadium,” Jets spokesperson Bruce Speight read from a prepared statement today. “We recently sent a survey to our season-ticket holders to explore a range of seating options, pricing structures payment terms and amenities.”

So the results are mostly in, and the Jets plan to study them and then release a payment structure.

One thing is certain; those prices will rise. Currently the cheapest seat is $750 for the Jets, $800 for the Giants. Stadium expert Neil deMause, author of “Field of Schemes,” said that new stadiums always mean more money, although given the recent success of the Giants they’ll be able to charge more.

“I imagine (the Jets) will have to use some kind of PSL but probably not the same,” deMause said. “They don’t have the 130,000 on the waiting list or the Super Bowl championship.”

In fact, the Jets had 10,500 people on the waiting list coming into this season. Those numbers mean that if a PSL is instituted, it may just be imposed on the better seats in the new 82,500-seat stadium. But given the costs and the debt, the Jets will have to ask fans to bear the costs of a shiny new seat.

One fan who got the survey was shocked by the prices being thrown around, “It’s tough to think about that when shelling out $5,000 for something that’s not tangible at the time.”

If not, there’s always the flat screen and DirecTV.

“There hasn’t been a stadium built in the last 20 years where the average ticket price didn’t go up,” deMause said.

In what is becoming a tidy pattern, the Jets have made all the recent roster changes at around 6 p.m. So chew on that.

The biggest question about the new stadium has finally been answered. Never mind possible cost overruns, whether the current coach will be around and who the QB is—Jets fans will be drinking Budweiser as they watch it unfold at the new stadium at the Meadowlands.

Anheuser-Busch joins MetLife as one of four major sponsors of the new stadium for the Jets and Giants, the construction of which Jets fans can enjoy all season long. (When I was out there to cover the Giants this spring, I had the fun of finding where the ramp for the northbound New Jersey Turnpike was—a new path each time!)

The Bud sponsorship is reportedly worth $10-$15 million, and the fifth and final sponsor will pay $20 million for a package including naming rights. Oh, the suspense!

The 5-foot-11, 194 pound Worrell was taken as an undrafted free agent by the Bears in 2003, and played there for four years making 20 tackles, two sacks, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 46 games. He also played in Super Bowl XLI. Worrell was an All-WAC first-teamer at Fresno State.

Jay Cross has resigned as the Jets president to become president of Related Hudson Yards. Mike Tannenbaum will step in, with a new title of executive vice president/general manager.

Cross had a lot to do with the Jets push for a West Side Stadium, which ultimately failed. With the Giants, the Jets are building a new stadium next to the current Giants Stadium in New Jersey, which all hope will be completed by the 2010 season.

The Jets made a few other front office moves. Matt Higgins is the new EVP of business operations, and Thad Sheely is the new EVP of stadium development and finance. Those two and Tannenbaum report to team owner Woody Johnson, and Johnson made the announcement yesterday.

Those crickets mean it’s the offseason. Time for the NFL to take a quick nap before the clamor of rookies signing monster contracts wakes everybody up.

But for those who can’t get enough …

Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum was named to a new GM committee the NFL has formed, which is being co-chaired by former Giants GM Ernie Accorsi. Accorsi, who still lives in Manhattan, said the league picked a GM from each division and four at large spots for the job.

Although the committee’s focus of “integrity” and “expanded use of technology” might seem to hearken back to Spygate, NFL spokesperson Greg Aiello said that particular issue didn’t prompt the committe’s formation. “No more so than any other issue,” Aiello said.

In other news: MetLife has signed on to be the official insurance of the Giants and Jets, and will be able to name one of four entrances to the new Meadowlands Stadium. A marketing source tells the AP the deal could be worth $10 to $15 million.

And if you want to read more on the rookies, espn.com’s James Walker has a story on the NFL’s program to take all rookies to the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton. Great idea, right? And guess who thought of it… none other than inductee Michael Irvin.

And the Jets made a bunch of front office moves official, the story is here.

And finally a basketball item. Last Friday we got a tip that Knick Stephon Marbury was in Westchester County Supreme Court, suing a contractor over drainage issues in his Purchase home. Simple, right? Happens to everyone…

Except that Marbury is going to make $21 million in the last year of a $70 million contract and he’s suing for the grand (and possibly inflated) sum of … $1.o7 million.

I got to thinking about this over the weekend (feel free to chime in on this) and Marbury must really, really, hate his contractor. This case has been going on since 2005, and he has chosen to sit in a very un-luxurious courtroom (no scented soaps in the restrooms, no Egyptian cotton sheets) to give hours of testimony on gutters and drains, taking questions from a guy who might have watched a little too much “My Cousin Vinny.”

Yes, to you or I, $1.07 million is a significant sum—but Marbury could buy that dude’s contracting business and have a lawnmower smashing contest and never miss the cash. That’s even if you don’t factor in all the shoe money.

My thoughts—it’s a grudge. Gives you a little insight into Marbury, if you were looking for any.

Punter Joe Smith and wide receiver Ashlan Davis were signed. Smith was a D II All American from Central Washington, while Davis has played two seasons in the Canadian Football League (40 catches, 476 yards and three TDs).

This year it will be harder for the dropped players to get picked up elsewhere. Each player has five fewer roster spots to give since the dissolution of NFL Europe. In the past, a team could waive those five players to play overseas.

The Jets have 84 players on the roster now, and will have to drop four as they sign each of the remaining draft picks.
