I see over the weekend that a lot of you were affected by the shooting death of former Titans QB Steve McNair.
The Daily News has a pretty detailed story on the tragic circumstances surrounding the death of McNair and his mistress.
McNair played two years in Baltimore with Jets coach Rex Ryan and linebacker Bart Scott, and both reacted to the news on the Jets website.
“I am in utter disbelief. Steve always came to work with a smile and a joy about him,” said Scott. “I remember him as a dad that brought his kids to the facility and we all embraced them as our own. Not only will Steve’s family miss him, but the entire NFL family has lost a brother. His death was far too early and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
“Steve was special and as tough and competitive of a guy that I have ever been around,” said Ryan. “As soon as we got him in Baltimore, he gave our team instant confidence and I was fortunate to be around him for two seasons. As great of a player as he was, it was more of an honor to know him as a person. My heart and prayers go out to his family.”

The jet signed OT Nevin McKaskell from Hampton, JAG Buffalo Practice Squad 2007, Eagles and Green Bay in 2008. I think the guys name is Scott Cohen, the Jets new Asst. GM, worked for Philadelphia the last couple of years. If a player has a a cup of coffee with the Phildelphia Eagles the last couple of years, and his available the jets are looking at him…

I come not to praise Steve McNair, but to bury him. As a former athlete who came up short , I dreamed of being a star QB, and having more money than God. Steve was all of that and more on the field. The perfect life. Maybe the dream is not all its cracked up to be, Steve was guilty of infidelity, and thats just hurtful, I never had his temptations, but infidelity is something people never forget. His wife married a star QB, superman, with big bucks, how did that dream work out. Steve left four boys fatherless, I can’t tell you how important my father has been to me, throughout my life, giving wisdom and support to a middle age guy. These four kids are without a father do to a selfish lifestyle, I feel for them. Steve McNair great QB, but it doesn’t count in the scheme of life…JMO
Life in the fast lane will get you sooner than later!!
Some guy’s just don’t grow out of that “BMOC” thing!!
I had no father growing up, and these children will have that never ending feeling of: “you fill in the blank”
Sad day for the children.
This guy wasn’t only cheating on his wife and kids. He was cheating on his girlfriend too. I don’t care if he was a great player or not. . The old boys clubs in professional sports seem to look the other way all the time. Great team mate and great competitor. Unfortunately nobody said great husband.
