Jones back with Jets

May
27

Thomas Jones was on the field in his No. 20 white Jets jersey today, a week after his agent Drew Rosenhaus posted on Twitter that the running back would return. Jones had not been attending the voluntary workouts or previous OTAs.

The other Jets RB, Leon Washington, has been missing since last week. Both players have been trying to get restructured deals with the Jets, so far unsuccessfully.

The Jets drafted Shonn Green out of Iowa in the third round of the draft, and at 5-foot-11 and 227 pounds, he has the size and style that Jones used with success last season as the AFC’s leading rusher.

Tomorrow’s OTA will be open to the media, and I will have quotes and audio from Jones, if he speaks, right here.

I would assume that Jones was in great shape, the man takes care of himself. This is a contract year for Thomas, its hard to get employment if your on the wrong side of thirty in the NFL. The tough part, is that needs a great season, but he will have less carries, with Washington and Greene taking a larger part of the load

For all you folks who are following the Jet TE drama, the Jets just signed Martez Milner a fourth round Atlanta Falcon pick in 2007. Milner from Georgia is 6’4 260, played in 5 games for the Bird in the 2007. Cut in Sept 2008, scooped up by the Giants and placed him on their Practice Squad. The Giants have a lot of TE’s, Boss, Matthews, and Darcey Johnson are the incumbants. The Giants picked Travis Beckem TE in the third round making Milner expendable. Reserve lineman Tutus Reyes became available, Giants signed him and Cut Milner last Thursday. Decent mid round pick who could be your blocking TE, gets hurt a lot, a little competition for Bubba and Kareem.
