Punter battle?

If you didn’t have total confidence in Reggie Hodges… well, then you probably have a lot in common with other Jets fans. And now the Jets management give him a vote of no confidence by signing P Eric Wilber. Kind of reminds me of the Ben Graham vs. Jeremy Kapinos preseason tilt, which I guess didn’t go so well in hindsight.
Here’s what the Jets released about Wilber:
Wilbur (6-2, 200/Florida/Orlando, FL) originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Houston Texans on May 4, 2007 and was released July 23. He also was signed and released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Aug. 8, 2007. Wilbur became the first punter at the University of Florida to be named a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award. He concluded his collegiate career first in school history in punting yardage (9,900), attempts (231) and second in average (42.9), producing 39 punts of 50-or-more yards.

Jane, The need to finally get a punter. This is crazy. Do you know that when the Jets drafted Craig Hentrich back in 1993 Coslet cut mim. He then went on to have an excellent career and was finally done last year after 16 years. If only the Jets had kept him. Since then the Jets have had 14 different punter and still counting. And the NFL really messed up by putting the Jets on at 4:15 on 9/27 before the start of Yom Kippur. Very bad move by the league that needs to switch that game to 1pm.
