Clowney status quo

Since The Jets Blog addressed the David Clowney situation last night, I’ll add what I know here. He still hasn’t heard from the Jets. But as an exclusive rights free agent, the third year wide receiver (AP photo) is not going anywhere.
The Jets do not have to address his situation until they decide whether or not to go for a wide out in free agency or through the draft. With Laveranues Coles hitting the market as a free agent last night at midnight and a wallet full of cap space, the team is waiting to see how the next few weeks change the roster before addressing a player already in pocket.
One thing is certain, Clowney is ready to get in the game more this season. He stretches the field for the Jets and, when he was put in the game in the preseason and he was active for one game late in the season, made some impressive catches.
Posted at 7:31, by the way, still an hour off and I’m going to have our IT dept. fix that today.
UPDATE 7:43: By multiple reports, free agent Ravens LB Bart Scott is coming to visit the Jets facility, where he has said he wants to play, and the speculation is that he will have a contract with the Jets to play under his former defensive coordinator and new Jets head coach Rex Ryan before he leaves.
If that’s the case, Eric Barton will almost certainly be in another uniform next season. Barton’s agent spoke with the Jets this week, but after midnight last night Barton confirmed to me that he is a free agent.

Jane,
Might as well wait for the hour change (spring forward), right? Or you may have to put in another request to the IT department almost right away! I think we change the clocks in about two weeks.
The date is March 8th. Hopefully by then there will be a lot of happy J*E*T fans. We have a lot of holes to fill now. OG or OT depending on what they do with D. Woody. They could move him to guard and sign a OT. This receiving core scares the hell out of me. Add an inexoerienced QB and it is a real nightmare. Who will be our kicker, starting cornerback opposite Revis, QB and main receiver. This does not sound like a playoff ready team right now. They will have to make some BIG decisions in the FA market because this season will determine who really wants to pay for the dreaded PSLs.

HOW GREAT IS THIS…..........
Jane – - since you mention Clowney, any idea if they’ve been working to bulk him up a bit? My concern about him, and Stuckey for that matter, is that he’ll be perpetually injured, because of his smalll stature.
By the way, haven’t been here in a bit, so welcome back… hope you had a lovely little sojourn!
Oh, forgot to mention the latest rumor I’ve heard… we’re supposedly hot on Steelers G Chris Kemoeatu. That would make my day, since OL is my biggest concern, after we released Moore.
ACD…
I KNOW! No sleep and I’m heading to Rangers practice now. Gotta keep the updates coming on both though. Anyone who doubts if I’m earning my money this week should check out the Rangers Report as well.
