Moore released

February
26

Everyone who called me crazy when I first reported this could happen on Feb. 9 can send me a brief email apology and we’ll call it even.

RG Brandon Moore was released this afternoon. There are numerous reasons why this could backfire—the importance of keeping the integrity of the offensive line, the cap space that was cleared surely gives the Jets room to resign him—but the team announced his release in the same sentence with two guys signed to futures contacts in the last six weeks.

So add to the Jets needs right now a competent right guard. And those don’t usually come cheap.

Here’s Moore’s offical bio.

Moore (RG, 6-3, 295, Illinois) originally signed as an undrafted free agent defensive lineman in 2002 and was converted to an offensive lineman during training camp. He made his regular season debut for the Jets in late 2003 at left guard. The Gary, IN native started 73 consecutive regular season games at right guard since missing three games in the middle of the 2004 season due to injury.

(RB Noah Herron and waived DE Sean Conover were the two others, for those of you scoring at home.)

I don’t think I ever actually called you crazy, but as I mentioned in the previous thread, I certainly consider this decision to be crazy. I really hope you and your colleagues throw the hardball questions at the Jets braintrust, because this just reaks of insanity. They should understand just how frustrated Jet fans get by this type of incredulous decision making.

Alright, I’ll try to shut up about it now.

PS…if I appeared to call you crazy, then please accept my humble apology, Jane.

No! Wasn’t you… off this blog.

  4. David

Well, in that case…off with their heads! ;)

And I think you made good points about the wisdom of releasing him.

Thank you, Jane. I know I’ve been disproportionately spouting off on this one…

JANE…..Who’s Next. I see Brad Smith, Bryan Thomas, Ty Law, JR Reed and Drew Coleman next to go. Thomas is making too much and Ty Law is over the hill, Smith just doesn’t do enough to keep. The J*E*T*S will be players in the FA market again this year. However some people won’t be too happy with the moves they make.

    David,

Hell no! I think you’re being quite contained!

BTW, I addressed you in the previous post. Sort of a puke brotherhood.

    Thanks, Alex…an NYJ Vomitorium club?
