Forgive the posts with warm titles, but it is so cold up here. So judging from your comments, Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuola is someone that a lot of fans would like to see named as Jets head coach. Turns out, the Jets aren’t the only team asking him in. The Rams and the Lions are reportedly seeking an audience with the white-hot future HC.
This is sure to cause a bit of a bidding war for him, not that it should be a problem for team owner Woody Johnson. At least Spags wouldn’t count against the cap.
If, on the other hand, the Jets are leaning towards Rex Ryan, take a seat. Ryan’s Ravens could be a while.

Popular rumor is that Ryan is infact the #1 choice.
Still want a former Head Coach…But aside from that I would take Ryan over Spags. No matter who comes here they will become a head coach and hire their own Off & Def Co-ordinators. I would be glad with either one as my Def-Coordinator, PERIOD. In this decade we are 71-73 with hot new Co-ordinators leading our team..
I’m similarly tired. Joe has it right.
I could live with Spags, but would prefer Ryan.
Ryan is part of the Jets family, and has ties to Supe III.
It’s about time we have a coach, that understands Jets Fan Psychosis!
Woody was silly, again deciding to share a stadium with the Giants. Hiring Spags, is again depending upon the Giants.
We need our own identity.
Thus, barring a change of heart by Cowher, Holmgren, or Belichick, it’s Rex time.
We should know within the next couple of days, Woody’s thinking. If Spags or Schott isn’t hired, then it’ll probably be Rex (or Grimm), since we have to wait for either of them.
WHAT ABOUT DUNGY?
Why is everyone more interested in Ryan than Brian billek?
here’s a guy that led a team to a superbowl, and has head coaching experience, no?
If Dungy were still interested in coaching, I seriously doubt he’d be stepping away from the Colts right now. He has to be seriously burned out, by now.
It’s looking more and more like Ryan is the frontrunner. He has good lineage, growing up with coaching, since he was knee-high to his father. I just hope he doesn’t have too much of his father’s self-destructive temper. A lot of us might actually enjoy it, but we don’t need really need him to do a “Buddy” upside the head of Brian Schottenheimer, after he is forced to look at some of those ridiculous offensive schemes for a while.
I appear to have made a Freudian typo slip in my last sentence. Oh well, you get the idea…
Ryan, please. Love the symmetry of his dad being on Weeb’s staff. Cue the Van Halen, warn the OC (whoever it is) to practice ducking punches, and let’s play BUDDY BALL!
Like to see them interview Billick…but if that is not the case Rex is the guy. If they choose a defensive coordinator for next coach…take the lead from the Bears as HC Lovie Smith is calling the defensive signals next year. Don’t want to lose Rex expertise to someone else. Hope they don’t retain Shotty…clean house except for Special Teams coach. Bring in a OC who knows what to do after 15 scripted plays….he needed help. I vote for Steve Mariucci as OC/QB coach.
