What in the world are we waiting for to hire a new coach? It's not rocket science. Make a decision already Woody!

HAHAHAHA.
The Giants were, just like the Jets, 1-4 over their last 5 games. Is their coach getting fired?
So they got to play an additional 60 minutes. Thats the same as 2 Seinfeld episodes...

What a Soap Opera over nothing.

Alex..The three coaches you are talking about all took over losing teams that played a last place schedule. The Ravens are a perfect example. There record the last 4 seasons is 6-10 in 05..13-3 in 06...5-11 in 07 and 11-5 in 08. 05 & 07 were winning team schedule. 06 & 08 were losing teams schedule. Atlanta was 4-12 last year and Miami was 1-15. Both played a losers schedule this season. Lets see what these guys do for the next 2 seasons. Remember Mangini took over a 4-12 team and went 10-6 to 4-12 to 9-7. the two losing seasons were against a winners schedule. While the 2 winning seasons were against a losers schedule. Too many years of losing in starting to take a toll on me. I just don't want to see another asst. coach with all the credentials come in here and fall flat on their face.

Don't be surprised to see this search for a new coach take a break. The Giants are out of the playoffs, so there is no reason for the JETS to be in the news everyday. They have had so many interviews that they will need time to sort them out. They also have to see which players want to stay. They won't sign a coach who doesn't know which players he will be coaching. I don't think we will have a new coach until after the SB. I still go with the HEAD COACH theory. The list of hot coaching prospect that have come and gone in this decade is as long as the declaration of independence

Jane - - very perceptive comment, about Schott & his failure to be able to call plays on the fly, once his scripted drives are complete. The local media, unfortunately, hasn't mentioned this enough.
He seems to pick plays out of the air, with no sense of how to set up subsequent plays, like all good offensive coaches do.
Or, that Schott's offenses were 25th & 26th in the NFL, his first two years... and we know what this year was like.
He's never learned how to use Brad Smith, Leon Washington, Keller, Stuckey, etc.
How he is being considered, even to return as OC, let alone the head coach, is rather frightening.
Out of the candidates left, I'd like to see Ryan, but I suspect Woodenbaum might be scared off, since Ryan is his own man... but, I hope you're right.
