Meeks goes in

Russ Grimm had his interview with Mike Tannenbaum and Woody Johnson yesterday, Ron Meeks was today, and as yet nothing else is on the docket although Brian Billick may get his chance in front of the Jets GM and owner.
As for new Browns coach Eric Mangini, he will be taking quarterbacks coach Brian Daboll, defensive line coach Brian Cox to Cleveland with him.
Not only are the Jets waiting to deal with quarterback Brett Favre until after the new coach is found, but a slew of potential free agents are waiting to see whether they will come back. LB Eric Barton, WR David Clowney, K Mike Nugent, K Jay Feely, WR Laveranues Coles, TE Chris Baker and FB Tony Richardson are just a few of the players who are waiting on their futures with the Jets.
Who do you most want to see back?

Jane McManus

I definitely want to see Clowney back next year. One of Mangini’s big mistakes was not getting the speed burner onto the field earlier and more often.
Coles is guranteed his money so unless somone trades for him he is comingv back
Baker should leave – we have Kellor
Baker’s blocking would be missed, and he’s a great complement to Keller.
Yeah, I think Baker is still a keeper also and it doesn’t hurt that his market value has probably dropped a bit. What about the kickers?
David,
Good question that nobody’s really taken up. How old is Feely? Seems he’s been around a while.
Regarding Baker again, I’ve also heard it said many times that he has the best hands on the team.
David & Alex=FYI= John Karney is 44=Matt Stover is 40=John Kasay is 39=Jason Hanson & Jason Elam are 38=Adam Vineteiri is 36=Joe Nedney is 35=David Akers & Ryan Longwell are 34=Phil Dawson & Matt Bryant are 33 and Chris Brown, Neil Raeckers and JAY FEELEY are 32. Kickers are like fine wine. They get better with age. HOPE THIS HELPED..joe b
Joe,
Thanks for the research. The comparisons are helpful. I assume that, judging by your fine-wine compliment, you think Nugent should be let go?
Either one is fine with me. I think Feeley has a stronger leg. Nugent has youth on his side. We won’t be making the final decision. They will. Nugent might be the wiser choice, but the JETS jerked him around quite a bit this season. He might not want to come back. Just watched the end of the Giants game. Spags & Gilbrite didn’t get it done today. I still like the idea of a former head coach over a o/c co-ordinator. The NY Times has an article about “the same old jets” today. Very interesting and true to the core.
Joe,
I read the same article and pasted it into a document to save on my computer. Reminded me about a lot of stuff, some of which my brain had forgotten (in self-protective mode). So true, as you point out. Worth recommending.
Glad the blog seems to have gone back to the regulars.
