Tennessee connections & injuries

When LE Shaun Ellis takes the field on Sunday, he will be about three hours away from the Tennessee campus, where he played for a season with Titan DT Albert Haynesworth.
Ellis is a little older, but he has followed the success of his former teammate (far left in an AP photo), which last year included 69 tackles, six sacks and a trip to the Pro Bowl. They also faced off against each other in high school playoffs and Ellis was Haynesworth’s host during his official visit to Tennessee.
“He’s a beast… since he’s been in the league people just haven’t recognized it ‘til the last two years,” Ellis said.
(I have only been doing this for a season, but as far as I can discern the term “beast” is technically the highest compliment one player can give another.)
Here’s more of Ellis on Haynesworth.
The injury report came out and TE Bubba Franks practiced fully for the first time in weeks after injuring his hip. S Eric Smith (multiple concussions) and LB David Harris (groin) were not out at all.
WR Laveranues Coles (thigh), K Mike Nugent (thigh) and LB Jason Trusnik (knee) were listed as limited in practice, although you have to start wondering how much Nugent’s injury has to do with Jay Feely’s success in his place.
WR Jerricho Cotchery, DL Ellis (shoulder), WR Brad Smith (shoulder) and LB Cody Spencer (shoulder) rounded out the fully participating.
For Tennessee, CB Eric King (foot) was out; LB Keith Bulluck (chest), CB Nick Harper (ankle), CB Reynaldo Hill (hip), DT Jason Jones (foot), RB LenDale White (calf) and WR Paul Williams (ankle) did not practice; RB Quinton Gather (hammy), DE William Hayes (knee) and DE Kyle Vanden Bosch (groin) were limited.
