If you think Brett Favre is the most well-compensated Jet this season, you’d be half-right. Turns out the new quarterback and linebacker Calvin Pace are making the same money, $12 million.

There are lots of fun little surprises like this in a database of Jets salaries put together by The Journal News’ Cathey O’Donnell. Favre is making a flat $12M, while Pace gets there through incentives and a signing bonus.

Top five money-makers on the team are Favre, Pace, NY Kris Jenkins, OL Alan Faneca and OL Damien Woody.

Another fun fact: Jerricho Cotchery is only two up on the list from James Dearth, and TE Dustin Keller is pulling in more than fellow rookie Vernon Gholston. (Gholston, however, has $20 million guaranteed.)

Search the database here for a specific player or the whole team. And you can do it for any player in the NFL. Remember, when you compare your bottom line to say D’Brickashaw Ferguson’s, no weeping allowed.

Overall, the Jets rank 12th in total payroll with $116,910,097, which places the team two spots ahead of the Giants. However, the Jets rank 28th in the league in median salary at $750,000. A team of have and have-nots.

In other news, the Broncos game in two weeks is now a 4:15 start. The NFL network will be rebroadcasting the Jets-Patriots game Tuesday night at 9:30. This time, make some popcorn and don’t sweat the outcome. Spoiler alert—your team won!

And lastly: Jets coach Eric Mangini suggested in a conference call yesterday that LB David Harris (groin surgery), TE Bubba Franks (hip) and S Eric Smith (multiple concussions) could be ready to get back to practice as early as tomorrow.

I’m still amazed that more contracts are not incentive based. If Coles has x catches, maybe he could make an extra few thousand….but then again, he might be more disgruntled that Brett is throwing the Dustin, and not him.

didn’t new orleans offer ricky williams a huge primarily incentivebased rookiecontract, and didn’t they get totally thrashed by the nflpa to the point that they withdrew it even though ricky had basically agreed to it
