A dark and stormy night

November
13

It is definitely wet here in Foxborough, and from what was being said on Patriots talk radio, I gather that Matt Cassel has yet to play in conditions like this and that Eric Mangini’s only win over the Patriots and former boss Bill Belichick came during similar conditions.

The other thing I heard was a distinct respect for the Jets up here, which obviously didn’t extend to Mangini. Not a lot of love for him up here, but the callers were impressed with Kris Jenkins and Thomas Jones.

Given the weather, the running game is going to be pretty key. Not sure what the weather means to the Patriots, but given the way Brett Favre has thrown the ball in the last two games, the rain isn’t a factor. If Favre had been throwing it downfield all season and the INTs were still a problem, the rain would be a more significant factor tonight.

(Hey everybody! Check out Brian Bassett from The Jets Blog making a guest appearance as a member of the Mainstream Media!)

A key matchup will be LT D’Brickashaw Ferguson going against RE Richard Seymour. In Week 2, when the Patriots won 19-10, Seymour got the better of the contest, and Favre took a lot of pressure in the pocket. But the offensive line has been very solid recently. I’m not very good at making predictions, but a lot of the guys in the locker room feel like this is a game they can win.

No one is in the stadium yet, but cars are already backed up down the one pathetic feeder road. (Can you sense that I’m a little irritated with that traffic? Good thing I got here early enough to calm down. Deep blue ocean… Deep blue ocean…)

I’ll get the inactives up when they are out.

UPDATE: Inactives aren’t out yet, but K Jay Feely is dressed in uniform. Also, the rain seems to have let up for now…

UPDATE II: Jets inactives—K Mike Nugent, QB Brett Ratliff (third), WR David Clowney, RB Marcus Mason, CB Drew Coleman, S Eric Smith, LB David Harris, TE Bubba Franks.

Patriots inactives—QB Matt Gutierrez (third), CB Terrence Wheatley, CB Lewis Sanders, RB LaMont Jordan, LB Eric Alexander, T Wesley Britt, DL Ty Warren, LB Adalius Thomas.

Thats funny. You usually love the traffic at the Meadowlands..
I hope Leon Washingon has a big game. he’ll be instrumental in giving the Jets good
    field position.

And now that they have a better punter, the Pats won’t be starting at the 50 every drive.

Tonight seems like the Headless Horseman might come out…
I just hope Favre throws more TD’s than INT’s

I guarantee with the weather the way it is and the national exposure this game gives for Mr. favre, he will have one of his best games of the season. hen the weather is ideal, he throws interceptions. Lets just think the opposite and see the jets storm to victory!!!!

    Apologies for my earlier impatience.

Exactly correct. One pathetic feeder road. Thank goodness I don’t care about the Pats. And wouldn’t be able to get tickets if I did.
