Here are some snippits from the post-game press conferences. Up first, FB Tony Richardson discusses how far away the Jets are from the team that lost in Oakland on Oct. 19. RB Thomas Jones credited Richardson for some of his success this year, and there were plenty of gaps for Jones to get through in the 47-3 win over St. Louis.
Here, rookie TE Dustin Keller talks about his 100-plus receiving game. This could be a springboard him. He had a terrific training camp, but hasn’t been consistently utilized since the start of the season. Here he says that the turnaround to play New England doesn’t bother him. After the St. Louis game he feels ready to play every day.
And finally Kerry Rhodes. The safety is honest when it comes to New England. The sound isn’t terrific here but he says “they don’t like us… and vice versa.”
One for the books: It was the most lopsided win in Jets history, surpassing a 45-3 over Houston Oilers in 1988. With 78,073 watching from the stands, the 40-0 line at the half tied for the third largest halftime lead in NFL history. Two for the books: Replacement place-kicker Jay Feely dramatically improved his field-goal percentage yesterday and worked his way into the Jets’ record book. He made four field goals and five PATs. Most impressive was the distance. He had field goals of 46, 49 and 55 yards, the last of which tied for the longest in Jets history with Pat Leahy and John Hall. As good as he was, Feely is in the unusual position of knowing he will probably be cut as soon as the team’s regular kicker, Mike Nugent, is healthy again.
Confidence boost: Rookie tight end Dustin Keller got his number called quite a bit, he caught six passes from Brett Favre – including a 54 yarder – for a total of 107 yards. “It was huge for me, big confidence builder, I don’t think before this I was lacking confidence, but this definitely helps,” Keller said. “I feel more comfortable with Brett, and hopefully he’s a little more comfortable now and we can continue to do these things.” For his part, Favre said Keller was the kind of receiver who makes him wish he was 10 years younger.
Barton strong: Eric Barton had eight solo tackles and two assists yesterday, in addition to half a sack. It was the strongest outing for the linebacker all season, and he has 60 tackles for the year.
Running back stats: Jones scored three rushing touchdowns for the first time in his career, and gained 149 yards on 26 carries. The Jets had 167 passing yards and 206 on the ground, and held St. Louis to 80 yards rushing and 120 through the air. “I think any time you can move down the field on the first drive and get points, it sets the tempo of the game,” Jones said. “You impose your will on the other team. Throwing the ball, you can get a quick play and get a touchdown, but by running the ball, you physically have to dominate the other team. I think that’s what we were able to do on the first drive.”

Does anyone know – will a local Boston TV affiliate be permitted to carry the Thursday night Jets at Patriots game?
I think I just found the answer to my own question – the local ABC affiliate gets to carry it, right?
PG
Not sure about Boston, but the Jets game release says the NFL Network is carrying the game, along with WPIX. New York radio is 770 and 1050 AM. Haven’t gotten the Pats game release yet.
I found a reference in the Globe’s online affiliate that says the local ABC affiliate gets to air the NFL Network broadcast.
And I dimly recall that was a compromise worked out during last season – the home market fans were initially blacked out.
[...] McManus has a pretty solid quote you can listen to on her blog from Kerry Rhodes about how the Jets and Patriots feel about each [...]
I’m no Patriots fan, I assure you!
