Chatman and Ainge officially out

October
28

RB Jesse Chatman and fourth-string QB Erik Ainge are officially out. Ainge is listed with a right foot injury.

But the list of potentially serious injuries doesn’t end there. S Eric Smith was taken out of the Kansas City game after suffering two concussions in three weeks. Jets coach Eric Mangini said it was precautionary, but it probably would’ve been truly precautionary to let him sit for the entire game.

LB David Harris and TE Bubba Franks have hip injuries that may prove more serious than they seemed at first, and TE Chris Baker scratched at the last second on Sunday after being dressed and active.

And if Baker said he couldn’t play, he must really be hurting since his contract extension is only activated if he plays a certain percentage of the game.

Add to that that QB Brett Favre looked stiff and uncomfortable directly after the game, but I imagine few people would feel real good after 6-5, 305-pound left guard Alan Faneca toppled onto your throwing arm.

Good news: WR Jerricho Cotchery, LB Calvin Pace and NT Kris Jenkins seem to have recovered from what got them on the practice report in recent weeks.

They are probably among the most crucial pieces for the Jets right now, along with Favre, Darelle Revis… who else do you think?

I think Kerry Rhodes is indispensible…Jenkins(whom the Jets should find a personal chiropractor for); I think Cotchery is a great balance for Coles…

What is the prognosis for Nugent?? Is he taking the season off?
