Jets lose 16-13 in OT

October

Noticing a pattern here. Two west coast trips, two losses. The Jets are now 3-3 and have two more west coast trips. Jets coach Eric Mangini has been taking the team out a day early, on Fridays, and might want to reconsider.

“It hurts to lose like this,” said Thomas Jones, who had 24 carries for 159 yards.

Quarterback Brett Favre was 21- for-38 passing for 197 yards and 2 interceptions.

This game was costly in another way as well. Injuries—Jerricho Cotchery, Damien Woody, Laveranues Coles, Calvin Pace. We’ll have to see what happens this week in terms of who practices, but if any of them are gone for multiple games, it will be tough.

The offensive line had been looking a lot better since the Patriots game, but looked like swiss cheese.

“I’m already kicking myself,” guard Alan Faneca said. This was a game the Jets were “supposed” to win, and the team just never got in a position to do that.

The team was 4-12 last year, but with millions spent on new acquisitions including Favre, expectations are higher. This 1-4 team was low-hanging fruit. This part of the season, including Kansas City next Sunday, is the jelly-filled center of the season. If the Jets can’t take care of this, it doesn’t get any easier on Nov. 2 when the Jets go to Buffalo.

They always lose these types of games. A good team would have beat Oakland 30-0.

Should have stayed with Titan uniforms. Both Titan teams are undefeated.

Words that I can put on this blog cannot properly express how I and other Jet fans feel about this game. However, I don’t know if we should be too shocked. We go through this type of crap every season….............Mangenius?

Great game plan. Pass the entire 1st quarter against the worst rush defense. Mannnnnjinny doesn’t have a clue.

    I agree with Joe.

At what point does the coaching staff begin to take responsibility for their complete inability to react and adjust to real-time situations? Shottenheimer comes out with his script and sticks too it. After 4 plays in the spread, I was screaming at the TV, because of the potential for getting Favre killed. I have nothing against the spread, but using it so many times in a row was foolish.

What is the combined points scored for and against now in third quarters? That is a driect reflection on the coaching staff. It shows that opposing coaches are making better halftime adjustments. I believe our coaching staff is very good at weekday preparation, but horribly scary when it comes to gameday strategy adjustments.

I’d be really pleased if somebody had the guts to call them out and present these questions at the next presser.

I want to make it clear that calling coach “Mangenius” was completely sarcastic. I feel the same about coaching staff right now as you guys.
