2 Days til Miami…

September
5

The Jets are leaving for Miami today, they will beat some expected bad weather but had been planning to get out early in order to give the construction crews here at Florham Park more time with the building. It’s still in the process of being constructed, and there are a few issues. When coach Eric Mangini went to turn on the Giants game in his office last night, he couldn’t get the DirecTV and TiVo hooked up.

bilde.jpeg I asked why his crew of lackeys hadn’t done it for him, and Mangini said he didn’t have any. I vote for the offensive line, I’ll bet Alan Faneca could set that bad boy up.

The elitist media got to check out 45 minutes of practice, where we watched a few plays and a lot of special teams. Mike Westhoff was on the field telling Mike Nugent where to put the ball and critiquing the result. Kevin O’Dea, the man with the special teams title, was much quieter. Wonder how long that relationship continues, but it’s not the time of year for coaches to start sending out their resumes. Looks awkward from the outside though.

We have a story in The Journal News about how Chad Pennington (above, AP photo) and his former teammates feel about being on opposite sides of the ball this weekend.

Also, last night the folks who brought you the anti-Personal Seat License rally before the Jets-Giants preseason game were handing out posters last night before the Giant-Redskins game at Giants Stadium. The words “No PSLs” in black were covered by a red bar. I’ll find out if they plan to do the same at the home opener. Organizers said there were about 100 people at the rally and 500 posters given away.

More later…

One Response to “2 Days til Miami…”

  1. Brad

I gotta say, I’m a little worried about this game… I know it’s ridiculous, but it’s pretty obvious the Jets need to go into the bye @ 2-2 so this is ideal to have… The Jets have taken 4 in a row and 16 of 20 from the Dolphins, plus put up 2 huge numbers against the Phins last year, yet, the line hasn’t moved in Vegas even after the Jets got Favre and the Dolphins got Pennington… Weird. I have the game at a Field Goal Fest… Jets 22-19…

It’s good to see Westoff back… we need the Special Teams to perform just like last year to get to the playoffs.

I’m a big believer in the cause against the PSL’s… My family had Season Tix growing up and now my parents have migrated to Florida like every other New Yorker and gave up the Tix to their friends… Let the corporations pay the premium… everyone wants to take their kids to the stadium, and it’s those regular folks that make the chants the loudest. This is where the passion is, and they need to make sure those people aren’t pushed away!
