Chris Baker was at the Jets mandatory minicamp today, but he let it be known that he wasn’t happy. The tight end said Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum had promised Baker’s ex-agent that his contract would be revisited after a strong year.

Baker feels like he delivered, but the Jets haven’t. Baker said that there hasn’t been any indication that anyone was willing to talk about his contract, even though coach Eric Mangini had lunch with him to keep him up to date on football matters.
Baker has a new agent in Jonathon Feinsod and Neil Schwartz, the agents who represented Pete Kendall last year. Baker went so far as to say that the Jets refusal to negotiate with Kendall, the team’s center, basically “tanked” the season last year. Here is the audio clip with that quote.
Baker reiterated that he wanted a new contact or a trade, and that his gut said he would not be a Jet come the team’s first game of the season on September 7.

He complained that the Jets weren’t taking care of thier own. And it seems now he meant that they weren’t taking care of HIM. This is a ME,ME,ME thing. I would like to see him in a Jet uniform this season. And I think we will. But this is just another story of football life and how these guys are just a bunch of greedy %holes.
