In the final story off the Jets rookie camp, here are some of the invites talking about the pressure. Alan Turner was my lead. We’ll find out whether or not he and the other attendees will be on the roster by May 16.

Eric Mangini said even if they don’t add a player now, they keep them in mind. Mangini tells potential Jets to stay in shape and be ready to get the call.

So there are 10 undrafted free agents, and 6 drafted players at this camp. A total of 16 players.

This is a very naive question, but if the Jets don’t invite
players to be on the May 16th Roster…do they become “free agents” able to go to the camp of another NFL team? is there a maximum number of rookies that were initially invited, that can be added on May 16th?

And conversely, can Mangini scan players not added to other teams 5/16 roster, and invite them to Jets camp?

I apologize in advance if you answered these very questions in a previous story/blog.

    Miroslav,
There are those 16 and then 34 unsigned players just in for a tryout. Those that don’t make the roster (except the drafted players) could be picked up by another team. The Jets have 80 spots on the roster, and those are the players who will come to camp.

Good questions. There are a lot of contractual matters to wade through, and if they add one player from now on they must cut another.
