This morning’s paper has my story about Danny Woodhead, the 5 -foot-7 1/2 running back from Chadron State the Jets invited as a rookie free agent.

This picture is an AP shot taken when Woodhead got the Division II player of the year award in 2006. Here’s Woodhead on not being recruited out of high school:

This is the third and final day of camp, but it isn’t open to the media. The Jets will have to adjust the roster by May 16 to include any rookies they liked. Since the roster is currently full, with 80 players, any additions will mean another man has to come off.

Nice article on this kid, he might actually get a shot. But, this doesn’t take away from any other player, if you play good or in some cases great even if you didn’t play the hardest games in college you deserve a chance in the pros. Each player that’s undrafted has a story this one feels like he really deserves a chance. You never know which player surprises in the end. Good luck to him and thanks to you. Have a great week.
If you lined up pictures of 10 college athletes including Woodhead, and you asked which of these is the leading NCAA rusher in history, I can guarantee that nobody is picking out this kid.
Which could down a case of beer in under 10 minutes? perhaps…Champion Cow Toppler???....definitely…
but if he helps the Jets win games, it doesn’t matter to me how much beer he drinks, or Cows he topples….
