I did a story in Hofstra WR Charles Sullivan which you can read here. The Nanuet native will be heading across campus for the Jets rookie minicamp this weekend.

I know this is the JETS, but I also wrote on the Giants, here. They are visiting the White House today. If you hate them, pass on the link to your bandwagon-hopping friends who bought their first Giants jersey after last year’s Super Bowl.

As for which rookie stands to make the greatest impact, I’m always skeptical that the rookie free agents will ever become more than practice players. The odds are against them, which is why it’s such a great story when a kid like Rob Turner rises above. Anyone else?

The odds of any rookies making any squad are small. This is why Arena football was invented. There is no “Friday Night Lights” show about football teams in the North east. we just don’t eat as much red meat as those huskies down in Texas. Its not surprising that few kids from our schools make it to the NFL. Although I do remember Eric Ogbogu from Irvington, drafted in the 6th round by the Jets, 1998. But good going for Charles…maybe he can make the practice squad.

    Jane,
Just want to throw this in here.

Excellent info. You’ve made me come back to reading this blog. Keep up the good work and all the best to you.

Jane….Have the J*E*T*S announced thier FA signings yet ? Why is it such a big secret with this team ?

Great question, and no. I spoke to the PR dept. earlier today and they plan to release the names later, after they arrive and sign something.

As for the secrecy, I’m new at this, but it seems the Jets are more cloak and dagger about it than other teams. Some teams make the announcements, or will at least confirm information if asked. The Jets have an official no talking policy.

Anyway, as soon as they make it official, I’m posting it.
