DeWayne on the move too?

According to The Daily News, the Jets are listening to offers for defensive tackle DeWayne Robertson. Unlike Vilma he’s not actively seeking a trade, but he could be gone just the same. Robertson was forced to play nose tackle under Mangini because of a lack of alternatives. He was never suited to the role. Instead of trying to cram a square peg into a round hole (which is what they’ve done the last two years) the Jets are actively seeking personnel that fit better with their schemes. What a novel concept.
If DeWayne and Vilma get dealt, it will mark an ignominious end to the Jet careers of two of their three highest draft picks. Robertson was drafted 4th; Vilma and Shaun Ellis were 12th. Suddenly Vilma looks pretty great. At least he was a star for two seasons. Ellis and DeWayne haven’t come close to fulfilling their draft promise.
I think this really touches the heart of why the Jets have been a dud franchise for so long. Their drafts just stink. Year after year we throw picks away. Other teams strike gold occasionally and use those guys as the building blocks of their franchise. Where are our building blocks?

I have never been a big fan of the 3-4 system. The Jets drafted these players to work in a 4-3 and now they have to change their personnel to fit into Mangini’s 3-4. Most college systems are 4-3, so it is difficult to find linemen and linebackers out of college that are a natural fit. You need big and athletic players. I think this is why most of the mock drafts have the Jets looking at Vernon Gholston or Chris Long. Anyway, maybe someone could explain the real advantages of the 3-4.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? ARE YO KIDDING ME?? OUR DRAFTS STINK??
DOES LEON STINK??DOES HARRIS STINK??DOES REVIS STINK??DOES
D- BRICK STINK?? DOES MANGOLD STINK???THE DRAFT CHOICES THAT OUR CURRENT REGIME HAS MADE,HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT SPECTACULAR,AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED…STOP WHINING!!!!!!!!!!
VILMA/ROBERTSON/ELLIS WERE ALL SELECTIONS MADE BY A COACH THAT COULDNT EVEN UNDERSTAND GAME CLOCK MANAGEMENT!!!!!
OUR DRAFT THIS YEAR IM SURE WILL BE FULL OF PLAYMAKERS,THAT WILL BE STARTERS RIGHT AWAY…THANKS ERIC FOR BEING A SMART
FOOTBALL COACH…SOME JET FANS APPRECIATE IT.
First off Edwards didnt draft anyone. Bradway did. Second. Put Vilma and Robertson in a 4-3 with a halfway decent run stuffing DT and both will be in the Pro Bowl. The Jets management better get themsleves a true NT
Speaking of Robertson, here is the latest from rotoworld.com
Profootballtalk.com reports the Jets, Lions, and Broncos are discussing a three-way trade that would send DT Dewayne Robertson to Denver, NT Shaun Rogers to New York, and DB Domonique Foxworth and a second-round draft choice to Detroit.
I’ll welcome Shaun Rodgers with open arms if he can fill some holes in our leaky run defense. Also, I saw in the paper that the O lineman Faneca from Pittsburgh is a possibility. This would go a long way in solidifying our line. Asante Samuel would be a great although very costly addition to the defensive backfield. ......................I was also playing G.M. and I thought maybe we can offer the Browns Vilma and a 2nd rounder for Brady Quinn. Is this even a possibility or is Quinn signed for to a long term deal?
Jonathan Vilma is getting traded to the Saints for a conditional pick (not sure what a conditional pick is, but it will get done by the end of today)
