Suffering in the Super Bowl afterglow

Before the season my buddy Josh, who’s a Giants fan, asked me who would win more games, Jets or Giants. “Definitely Jets,” I said. And I wasn’t just talking trash. I meant it. It’s not that I thought the Jets would be so great. I just figured the Giants would stink. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-7 wins. No Tiki, rusty Strahan —how could they possibly be better than last year’s 8-8? We all know how that turned out. Minutes after the Super Bowl ended I got a text from Josh. He pointed out that not only didn’t the Jets win more games than the Giants, they didn’t win more games than the Giants did in the playoffs. Ugh. It was the first salvo of what I’m sure will be an offseason full of insufferable Giant boasting. And I basically can’t have an argument with any of them because it will end with, “When’s the last time the Jets won a Super Bowl? That’s what I thought.”And despite that, I’m still glad the Giants won. My hatred for the Patriots was so strong that I would have rooted for anyone over them. It was so sweet watching Belichick go down and the perfect season ruined, I can put up with a little bragging from my friends and neighbors. Of course, if they drive me homicidal over the next five months I may feel differently.I’m interested to know how other Jet fans were rooting. Who did you want to win, and will you be able to tolerate Giants fans now?

I totally agree with you.
I to have relatives and friends who give me some ribbing about the Giants..but I rather handle that for a few months even a year then to listen to Pat fans forever…......and all the news shows…......and all the TV shows…...about 19-0…FOREVER..no much better to take some teasing then to have to see our most hated for in the record books for all time..and to all the other teams out there..
DONT LET THE PATS EVER COME THIS CLOSE TO UNDEFEATED SEASON EVER AGAIN!
I couldnt take another one.
Pats fans were unsufferable. If they’d won I can’t think of a descriptive word for what that would have been like.
this was easy for me… i was rooting for the patriots to lose and brady to be knocked on his ass (maybe even injured!—no then they have an excuse if they lose) and shown to be the only okay QB that he is. this didn’t really have much to do with the Giants at all—mostly because i’m not close to any big Giants fans. if the patriots had won, we never would have heard the end of it in our lifetime.
I was rooting hard for the Giants. I really like the Manning brothers; they are good people, and Eli has really been dogged in NY. I am very happy for him. I hate Belechick and Kraft, even more than the Pats themselves. Big Bill is a classless jerk, and a big baby, sore loser. I loved watching the Giant Defense pound the crap out of the golden boy Tom Brady. That defense was ferocious. Hopefully our Jets can do the same sometime in the future.
I rooted for the Pats. First off I know many more Giants fans and have been ribbed by them for decades. And I’m old enough to remember the AFL and pretty much always root for the AFL/C teams in the SB. Bottom line: I can never root for Big Blue.
I am a Jets fan living in New England. Any further questions?
There’s no question, Giants. New York vs. Boston, need I say more?
I REALLY FELT IN THE LAST FEW GAMES THE PATRIOTS PLAYED,THAT TEAMS HAVE FINALLY FIGURED THEM OUT…THE GIANTS TOTALLY EXPOSED THEM,THEN CRUSHED THEM…THIS CAN ONLY MEAN GOOD THINGS FOR THE JETS.BELICHEAT CAN FEEL THE JETS KNOCKING ON THE BACK DOOR,AND THIS COMING SEASON,WERE GOING TO KICK THE SON OF A BITCH IN…WE HAVE IN THE MAKING,A YOUNG,AGGRESSIVE,GREEDY,NASTY DEFENSE,THAT IF TWEAKED PROPERLY,WILL HAVE US IN THE TOP 10 OF RATINGS NEXT YEAR.MIX IN A HEFTY DOSE OF TIME CONSUMING BALL CONTROL,AND YOU HAVE ANOTHER NY TEAM GOING TO THE BIG DANCE IN 08…NYJ
