Ok… so now it comes out that in reality New England started “spygate”? What else is going to come out before this game on Sunday?
For some real reason; I could actually believe that. To me, that team seems more paranoid then our President and that’s why they are as tight lipped as Fort Knox over there. If the Jets were really stealing signals for the Pats during the playoff game; wouldn’t that have meant that the Jets would’ve had a turnaround performance and played the better? Just a thought… And if the Jets were stealing signals, why are they allowed to film in the end-zone in every other NFL stadium?!
This is all getting ridiculous; can’t we just talk about the game and try to figure out how the Jets could possibly pull of a “Miracle on the Gridiron?”. My mom said that they’ll be “takin’ to the cleaners” on Sunday. She’s probably right; but hey… can we put the drama aside and talk about the game please?

Ok… that was the Cleveland Browns we were playing today?!?
That defense didn’t play like they were the team gave up the most points in the NFL. What in the world happened to the endless possibilities for this Jets offense and as Ray Lucas said last week “Kellen Clemens licking his chops?” Other then one rushing touchdown by Clemens in the fourth quarter you have 4 field goals by Mike Nugent for the entire game?!?!?
If your Brian Schottenheimer, when you have a speed back like Leon Washington who creates mismatches whenever he touches the ball as well as making people miss, why would let him touch the ball only THREE TIMES. I know Thomas Jones rushed for 106 yards; but if you had changed up the running attack I think it would’ve opened up more of the running game and the passing game.
However; that offensive line has been so schizophrenic all year…it’s kind of like watching Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan’s personal lives. Don’t start the bashing now but you know that the o-line has played bad one game and good the next. Bill Parcells said it all starts with the offensive line. How huge does Pete Kendall not resigning look now?
Oh boy; after this we’ve got to deal with the Pats who are going to be extra hyped for the game? If that offensive line played the way they did tonight; then the game will be a nightmare. Jake and I were talking about this a while back, this might not be the massacre that everyone thinks it is but right now; I’m savoring the idea that we’re going to have either the third or fourth draft pick next year.
Do you see Virginia’s Chris Long here? Michigan’s Mario Manningham? Sam Baker of USC? Who knows? But honestly, I still don’t know who the Jets lost to the Browns?

To follow-up Jake’s post about the Pats being undefeated coming into the Jets game next week; make sure you guys check out the pro-con.
I couldn’t in good faith as a Jets fan root for the Pats to come in undefeated so that we could be the ones to stop their bid for a perfect season. Even though I would love it if it were the Jets; but in all seriousness; the Steelers are the ones with the best shot to do it.
Let’s go Steelers!

To piggy back off of Jake; Harris has been exactly as advertised. He is an exact fit for the 3-4 defense and I know I might get tomatoes thrown at me for this but if you move Jonathan Vilma back to the outside linebacker and leave Harris to patrol the middle… that could be a real good linebacker core for the Jets next year. The linebackers need to have a good game against Cleveland today.
Many of those Jets will be remembering what happened last season; especially Chris Baker. But that was last season… this is now; and Jake is right. Kellen Clemens needs to complete more than 53% of his passes. The offense needs to play as hard as they did against the Dolphins. This defense for the Browns will give up a lot of big plays and it could be a very good day for the offense if they can take advantage of it.
It will be a battle between which team’s defense can stop the big play on offense. The Browns have everything to lose at this point. The playoffs are on the line; for the Jets… it’s a matter of whether we’re drafting at No. 4 or No. 5 (depending on what mock draft you’re looking at).

Considering how well David Harris has played since assuming Jonathan Vilma’s starting job, you have to assume it’s his spot to lose next year. We haven’t seen a linebacker play this well in Jet green since…oh, Jonathan Vilma himself. Let’s hope Harris doesn’t take the Vilma plunge in ‘08.
The second-round pick let New York in tackles last week to increase his team-leading total. He’s not quite the playmaker Vilma was in his heyday (at least so far; it’s still early) but he’s very consistent. Solid tackler; always in good position. With Kerry Rhodes picking his game up in recent weeks, it shows that he wasn’t a flash in the pan. Rhodes and Harris should be the defensive cornerstones in years to come.
That’s what it’s all about at this stage of a lost season—looking for signs of hope for the future. A win over the desperate Browns would look real good too. Now if we can only get Kellen Clemens to complete 53% of his passes….

As a Pat-hater I was rooting hard for Baltimore on Monday night, knowing all along the Ravens were going to blow it. But did they have to do it in such agonzing fashion? They had New England milimeters away from defeat on so many occasions and blew every one. Two times going three-and-out late in the fourth, three fourth downs they let New England convert, terrible late penalties. Even that last Hail Mary catch on the two-yard line was designed to torture America.
A Giant fan friend of mine suggested I should be happy if New England stays unbeaten when the Jets travel to Foxborough because if the Jets somehow beat them they’ll be national heroes. I don’t buy it. I just want the Pats to lose. Don’t care who does it. Pittsburgh, the Giants—doesn’t matter. Do the Jets have a realistic enough chance of beating them that Pat-haters should hold out for that? Probably not. So I’ll be pulling hard for the Steelers this weekend.

We’d been hearing a lot about how Miami was going to get its first win today. How the Fins were 0-11 yet somehow favored against the Jets, which was supposed to be an embarrassment to New York. How Miami was desperate to get just one W so it could avoid the ugly side of history as New England basks in history’s glow, and how that one W had no better chance to come than tonight against a Jet team that had supposedly packed it in for the year.
Only there’s one thing everybody forgot. The fact that New York puts more talent on the field than Miami didn’t occur to anyone. As depleted at the Jets were with Cottchery out and Coles hobbled and Vilma gone, the Dolphins were unrecognizable out there, especially on offense. John Beck? Jesse Chatman? Where have you gone Rocky Williams; a nation turns its lonely eyes to you. Those guys didn’t disappoint. Miami was inept, turning it over every time you looked up. As bad as the Jets have been, they are better than inept. By the time it was done, Miami had its worst loss of the season.
So much for the big chance. But look on the bright side Fins fans, the loss all but guarantees you the No. 1 pick. As a lifelong Jet fan I wish you a franchise quarterback at No. 1 like Tim Couch or Alex Smith or David Carr. Happy drafting!
The Jets did a lot of good things today. Coles provided that top receiving threat they lacked with him out. Clemens spread the ball around to eight different receivers. Leon Washington had maybe his best game as a non-return man. After two Jason Taylor sacks in the first quarter the line kept him off Clemens. The bottom line, though, was the turnovers. Miami just could not hold onto the ball, which gave the Jets several possessions in good field position. The Jets didn’t have to be spectacular. They just sat back and let Miami shoot itself in the foot (which is an action Taylor should be considering to get on injured reserve and away from this terrible team).

The Jets have decided to go back to the retro Titan uniforms for today’s game against the Fish. Whether it helps or not; that remains to be seen but Thomas Jones will be happy. He had 130 yards and carried the ball 24 times the last time the Titans came to play.
Honestly though, it doesn’t matter which uniform the Jets wear; if that offensive line doesn’t block well… then the offense can’t do a damn thing. That’s the biggest key to today’s game: the offensive line needs to play well. Then it will feed the running game which will in turn feed the air attack. And speaking of that air attack; we know now that Jerricho Cotchery won’t play today but if Laveraneus Coles doesn’t play then Justin McCareins needs to have more then two catches and five drops a game. Plus, how about not running away from Chris Baker. You give him the ball and he gets you first downs.
One thing that could be in the Jets favor is the longer work week. The Dolphins had a short one this week.
However this is the Dolphins we’re talking about. Despite the fact that this team has a lot of injuries; the games against the Jets are always close. They mirror the Jets in many ways; you’ve all heard the stats so I don’t need to repeat them. We all know that the Jets have a history of giving winless teams their first win.
The one thing that I can guarantee is that this game will be close. The offense needs to step it up and play 1,000% better than against Dallas.
