Sometimes I wonder about Jets Fans

November
20

I would like to think that the rest of you all were basking in the fact that Gang Green just defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that most people thought that the Jets would get mauled. But then to hear about what the drunken Jet fans at Gate D were doing. I know that this kind of thing happens and I’ve been to many games over my years; but for a girl to humor these drunken idiots…where’s the self-respect?!?!?!?!?

Why would any woman with some amount of self-respect want to pull her top off to placate some drunken idiots?! If any of you can answer that then you’re a lot smarter than I am.

I agree with Jake; what happened at Gate D was completely uncool.

I agree that what happened at gate D is uncool, but lets not all get carried away. I’ve been to Bourbon street in New Orleans where women do it for cheap plastic beads, some proudly carrying a large bunch. I’ve been to the Kentucky Derby where drunk young men encircle women in a frenzied dance. I’ve even seen it at Oktoberfest in Munich. And lets not forget the umpteen Spring Breaks, Bike week in Daytona etc. I’m not defending it, I personally find it deplorable, but it happens wherever there are lots of drunks. ITS NOT JUST JETS FANS! Why people would pay NFL ticket prices to get plastered and stand in a cold disgusting spiral is completely beyond my comprehension.

But lets get beyond all this and get back to something truly important… Football! Any news on Cole’s injury? Is he truly out for Thursday?

Greg, I do understand…doesn’t mean I like it. But I do know that it’s not just Jets fans. I do agree that why would you pay the amount of money for NFL tickets just to get drunk. That’s what the bars are for.

Anyway…let’s move onto football!! Is Coles out for Turkey Day?!?!? God I hope not. But this is the Mangini era; will we ever know the truth? Last I heard, he was limited in practice last I checked but I really hope that LC will be able to go down the field for Clemens.

We shall see. Happy Thanksgiving Greg.

I have been to plenty of Jets games and have never witnessed anything like this. Agree with Greg lets not blow it out of proportion, especially at the expense of the rest of us well behaved :) alchohol consuming long suffering Jets fans.

Most of all, please do not let some politician score political points at our expense.

Nothing should be done about this EXCEPT, if someone is caught actually abusing someone, verbally or otherwise, of course their season ticket should be revoked.

But do not punish the masses for the crimes of a few drunken frat boyz.

  4. Wayne

PS- A few years back a minority of fans set fire to some paper in the upper deck, alchohol was banned from Monday night games thereafter.

This is the example of what not to do, and what I am afraid will happen. Do not punish everyone.

What they should do is actually spend some of Woody’s and the SEA’s cash on real security and police the place properly.

If someone goes over the line, arrest and punish them. Leave the rest of us alone.

Good points, Wayne. It’s time to just put up the security and shut up the pols. I don’t want to sound like I’m diminishing the behavior, but this would probably qualify as an average day at Rich Stadium, where being an idiot seems to be a requisite for attending a game.

If the Jets fans are doing this. Be sure the Giants fans are also doing it. I don’t think this is a Jets thing,I think it is a stadium thing. But as Debbie stated “Lets get back to football”. One big win does not make a season. How did this 3/4 defense all of a sudden become a monster. Lets see if it carries over to the Cowboy game. The entire NFL is a joke this year. Only 12 of the 32 teams have winning records. And the Jets have to play 4 of them in thier final 6 games. Hopefully Kellen Clemens will get the experience he needs for next year against this competition.

    David,

You have no idea how often your posts put a smile on my face—especially your last post, since I too live in Billsland! It’s not just the post about the lead consumption, although that one was a classic. Lots of ‘em. I’m glad that you and the other regular posters have stayed aboard.

Thank you, Alex…believe me, when I tell you that the feeling is mutual. I love the people who post here. Cheers to you and a Happy Thanksgiving!
