Jets-Steelers pregame

November
18

Welcome to Steelers Stadium. Seriously, driving in, it was tough to tell whether this was actually the Meadowlands or the confluence of the three rivers. Right now, it’s running about 65-35 in favor of Steelers fans over Jets fans in the building.

Weirdest thing seen in the parking lot: a few people walking around wearing black lycra with small TV screens attached to their chests handing out hot dogs. It was a promo for TBS’ new comedy show Frank TV. Clever, huh?

Inactives are out…

Jets – Marques Tuiasosopo (third QB), WR Chris Davis, FB Darian Barnes (TE Joe Kowalewski essentially has a new role as a fullback with Stacy Tutt being placed on IR), OL Jacob Bender, OL Adrian Jones, TE Sean Ryan, LB Marques Murrell and DT Eric Hicks (ouch).

Steelers – Brian St. Pierre (third QB), WR Willie Reid, RB Gary Russell, CB Grant Mason, LB LaMarr Woodley, C Marvin Philip, OL Darnell Stapleton and OL Trai Essex.

Fashion report: Jets green on green, Steelers perfect in white over yellow. They’re running off the field now. Man, are there tons of yellow Terrible Towels in the house.

Never gave a prediction on this one so here goes: Steelers 27, Jets 10 but it’ll be a game until midway through the third quarter. Willie Parker rushes for 178 yards, Ben Roethlisberger carries for another 37. Kellen Clemens gets sacked four times.

Finally, check out my main man from Newsday Tom Rock’s “blog.”:http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/blog/ Read the Conspiracy Theory entry. As I told Tom today, this is in bad taste. But I think it’s pretty funny.

Talk to you later with some news, tease, tease…

Wow what how Barnes has fallen.

All I have to say is woohooo! I was ready to stay at home until a friend baited me into going out for the game. Four of us lowly Jets fans were finally rewarded for our masochistic devotion. Nice to see the defense play an entire game and the coaching staff wise up enough to stick with the run game when the going got tough.

    Amazing…

Great win, but by the same token, quite frustrating because we all know this team is A LOT better than 2-8. It comes down to what Mangini has been saying all year, a few plays make the difference and today we made the plays. This game had the exact same script as all of the others lately, get a lead, lose the lead, scramble to come back, lose the game. The ending was different today, we won. It feels great, the defense looked like a whole different group out there, and I will say, Big Ben will be a good test for Romo. If we can use a similar game plan, you never know, we may walk out of Texas Stadium 3-8. Good job by our Jets, lets hope we can get something going!!

The Jets finally gave 4+ quarters of effort. Hmm, I wone=der if that has anything to do with getting 4 days off?

I was at the game and the terrible towels were everywhere… after the game ended I asked one Steeler fan if I could have it as a barf bag for my baby daughter.

What happened to Coles? He was not in the lineup in the second half. I didn’t notice when he disappeared.

Coles hurt his foot on the long pass, tried to return but could not.

He bobbled the ball a bit, slowed to bring it in resulting in the defender landing on the back of his ankle/foot.

Same Old Jets, just when you think they really stink they tease you with what might have been.
