Halftime: Jets 3, Bills 3

More bugs in the blogging system so this will be a quick post as the third quarter has already started.
But I’m wondering if they’re going to keep Chris Baker out of the locker room after the game. Because an obvious question is what the heck were the Jets thinking on third-and-1 (again) in the red zone by putting Brad Smith behind center in the shotgun, then handing off to Leon Washington, who fumbled. It’s third and freakin’ 1. The Jets shouldn’t have to try and finesse a 1-yard gain. They shouldn’t have to try and fool a defense that, by all NFL statistical standards, stinks. Is lining Chad Pennington split left at wide receiver really fooling anybody.
Just give the darn ball to Thomas Jones and let him get a yard.
Honestly, the message this coaching staff is sending to the players is insulting: We don’t trust you to gain a yard.
Three times now, at the end of today’s first half, and that third- and fourth-and-1 against the Eagles, the coaching staff did not trust its offensive line to gain one yard.
I’d say things could get ugly but I’m pretty sure we’re already there.

Why do I put myself through this on Sundays? My God, this coaching staff has got to be eating lead at halftime or something. Kudos to Thomas Jones. Shame the Jets are too stupid to take full advantage of a good thing when they’ve got it.
One more bullet dodged here…wonder if they can manage not to outsmart themselves this time.
David,
That eating lead comment was a big hit in the press box, lots of laughing up here (though I know it wasn’t meant to be funny and is instead said out of frustration). A few more lines like this and it will be David’s Jets Journal.
Thank you, Andrew…that made my grimace curl into a smile. I know I read you all, so I offer a cheers through the jeers.
...and the fat lady just sat on our face. Guess, I’ll be buying my friend lunch again tomorrow.
oh my—is the coaching staff trying to win the first pick in the draft??
brutal, brutal.
