Eye on Vilma

October
28

Taking a window of opportunity here as the blogging system seems to be up for the moment.

Watched Jonathan Vilma walk through the tunnel and toward the locker room with his Jets’ teammates. He walked without crutches and though he was wearing a loose sweat suit, it didn’t necessarily seem like he had a cast or anything bulky around his knee.

He was, however, limping and limping in such a manner that it appears he has hurt his right knee, which I had heard previously.

Hopefully, more later. The only tease I can provide is that nothing is settled for next week in terms of a quarterback. Eric Mangini gave the standard watch the tape line, Chad Pennington admitted he was surprised to be taken out but not angry and Kellen Clemens says he prepares the same every week anyway.

However, at 1-7, 2008 has officially begun, it’s time to turn the page on 2007. Whether or not the coaching staff will see it that way is another matter.

You play to win the game.

I will say this about the defense. I thought that Harris gave them something extra in the middle and he needs to stay there, going forward.

I think the posting activity on this blog is down versus last year because of the massive disgust with this team. It feels as though the last 3 weeks of the Mets’ season was a precursor to that of the Jets.

I don’t mind losing if there is a sign of playing to win, rather than not to lose. I can take a bad season if there is a reason to believe that the momentum is upwards.

This season is such a strange combination of negative aspects that it even makes me look forward to the Knicks.

THE VILMA AND PENNINGTON ERA IS OFFICIALLY OVER…MANGINI IS
GOING TO PURGE MORE OF HERMS PLAYERS IN THIS COMING OFF SEASON…OTHERS TO FOLLOW MAY BE ELLIS AND MACARIENS…I CANT WAIT TO START THE CLEMMENS ERA…I KNEW PENNINGTON WOULD NEVER BE A CLUTCH/BIG TIME QUARTERBACK FOR US…REMEMBER THE PLAYOFF GAME AGAINST THE RAIDERS??REMEMBER THE DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS LOOK THE WHOLE GAME??CHAD HAS BEEN A CLASS,TOUGH AND ACCURATE PASSER FOR THE JETS,BUT HE JUST COULDNT TAKE THE TEAM TO THE NEXT LEVEL…CLEMENS,GIVEN TIME,WILL BE THAT QUARTERBACK.

We all know Pennington is not the future of this franchise, but I think he gets too much of the blame. He’s given this team his all and as fan I’m grateful. But now it really is time to see what Clemens can do because we may have a shot at Matt Ryan or Brian Brohm with our record. Hopefully Clemens will turn out OK and we’ll be able to draft for the 2 lines instead of a QB.
