Miller sidelined, but for how long?

September
18

There were rumors flying around yesterday that Pro Bowl kick returner Justin Miller had seriously injured his right knee against the Ravens.

Nothing official out of the Jets, mind you. But it certainly looks like the reports are true and that Miller will be sidelined indefinitely, perhaps for the season.

Of course, Eric Mangini will stride to the podium tomorrow and tell us all about it.

Dream on.

Actually, we will be told if the Jets place Miller on season-ending injured reserve, which would be logical if the team learns today that Miller’s season is over.

Both Brad Smith and Leon Washington have proven themselves capable on kick returns, if not with quite the same initial burst Miller provides, so I think the Jets will be OK. And, just a thought, first-rounder Darrelle Revis could be pressed into action on kick returns.

Strange to say, the bigger concern might be depth in the secondary, where Miller, even though he had tackling and some coverage issues, seemed to be improving before he hurt his hamstring in the preseason.

Thanks Andrew, I was hearing a lot of good things about Miller from a defensive standpoint and was quite excited about seeing how he would do on that side of the football. Hopefully Dyson can stay healthy now and that along with Revis should certainly help.
