They’re still talking

The word from Jets’ camp this morning is that general manager Mike Tannenbaum is still hammering out the details of first-rounder Darrelle Revis’ proposed contract with the cornerback’s representatives, Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod.
Practice is at 2, about two and a half hours from now, so the chances of Revis joining his teammates on the field today are getting tighter.
I spoke briefly with Schwartz a second time last night as a I was driving home. He left his Rockland home at 6 a.m., had been in meetings with Tannenbaum all day and was settling into a nearby hotel for a night of contract reading, not sure whether he’d get a wink of sleep.
But what he really felt bad about was yesterday was his wife, Chantal’s, birthday, which he essentially completely missed.
I know, there’s probably not a ton of empathy out there from Jets fans who wanted to see Revis in camp from Day 1. But there is a human element to this game that often gets overlooked, and that goes equally for guys like Tannenbaum and coach Eric Mangini, both who have small children at home that they don’t get to see nearly as much as they would like.
For that matter, I’d like to extend a happy 11th birthday to my daughter, who I did not see yesterday. However, she’s away at sleepaway camp so I can’t tug on your heartstrings and say I didn’t see her because of my dedication to reporting what’s going on with the Darrelle Revis situation.
Which, hopefully, will be resolved shortly.
More later…
