Reading the tea leaves

May
30

Hope everybody had a great Memorial Day weekend. In case anybody missed it, Ernie Palladino’s “blog entry”:http://giants.lohudblogs.com/2007/05/28/memorial-day/ on the subject should be a must read.

Also wanted to chime in on the results of the poll regarding Justin Miller and that I thought it was great that the added answer – Get all the facts and make wise decision – garnered so many votes, 14 percent of the total ballots.

The finals results:

Abide by any NFL punishment and keep him – 46 percent

Cut/trade him – 7 percent

Team suspension – 34 percent

Get all facts… – 14 percent

Miller, by the way, was part of the Jets’ contingent aboard the USS Wasp Sunday at Pier 90 in Manhattan. His mother, Donna Bowman, is a former drill sergeant in the U.S. Army and Miller felt it was important for him to be there.

Looking at it strictly from a Jets’ standpoint, in my opinion, it’s a good sign for Miller’s standing within the organization that he was part of a public team event. Again, my opinion, but if the team was in any way considering getting rid of him based on his recent legal issues, I don’t think he would have been there.

And Miller will not be shielded tomorrow when the Jets grant the first of four days access to their OTAs. What coach Eric Mangini has to say on the subject will also be interesting.

Speaking of interesting, got this tidbit from Denver, where coach Mike Shanahan admitted he gave David Kircus the option of taking a lie detector test to back up his side of the story regarding his arrest for punching another man in the face at a party. The wide receiver opted to take the lie detector test and Shanahan said he passed it to his satisfaction – which was that Kircus had said he was defending himself.

Shanahan also said this is not the first time he’s had a player take a lie detector test.

    so i disagree.
you hit a woman—you are out.
    her version differs from his.
she says he swung at her—not a man who ducked.
    guess who i believe?.....

the woman? And why do you believe the woman i wonder?

Yeah, and an aide for someone running for president has no reason to make herself look like the victim. Please. A drunken Miller probably hit on her, and then her friends probably started mouthing off to him and things got physical. During the melee, punches were probably thrown and one of Miller’s probably hit her.

Then he took off to avoid getting a beat down at the hands of her friends who probably flagged down the cops at that point.

Personally, I don’t trust anyone working for a politician. They’re just as bad as the dishonest politicians IMO.

Miller’s the fastest man in the NFL. I dont believe the cops were able to run him down. Thus, and because he is otherwise important to the Jets, I choose not to believe any part of this story.

Let’s see. A 23 year old gets drunk and in a fight at a night club. Who cares?

There really is no football news to talk about…

The interesting thing will be to see how Mangini handles this situation with Game 1 being against New England…we will see the true colors of the head coach, this is some dilema for him
