Mark,

I have to admit that it seems like a steal to me, as long as they can get him signed. I'd be a bit pissed if I were a Bears fan too, because it almost seems like their management didn't want to deal with the hassle of shopping around for better value. Oh well, it's fun stuff from our vantage point.

Cheers!

Andrew,

As a life-long (I'm 44) Jets fan, I am estatic about this trade the Jets got their RB for the next 3-4 years. I was hoping the Jets would grab a good one (ie Bush) with their early second round pick. This to me is even better, because we know RB's don't always turn out (Blair Thomas).

What da Bears fans are forgetting is that they are really getting a late very first round pick for what amount to a very early third rounder. I think both teams won. Of course as the biased Jets fan, I think we made out better.

Happy to hear you're alive, Andrew.
You have a few local Super Bowls to cover, before the Great Gazoo decides you're needed elsewhere.
In other words, you have a long life ahead!

As for Bears fans, I think the negative reaction is being overblown. I've checked out several Bears forums, and have seen loads of very happy fans. They're sorry to lose Jones, as he's been a good player, and good guy, but were happy with the equivalent of a high 3rd-rounder, they picked up for him.
This is one of those trades, that works for both teams.

David,

I heard Bears fans are really mad at this trade and saying it's an absolute steal for the Jets. The more I think about the trade, I can't argue that point.

Here's a thought: perhaps the Bears found a trading partner to package their 2 top picks (late 1st, early 2nd) for a top pick to land a stud like Calvin Johnson or a QB.

Andrew: That's good news. Glad to hear all is well.
