Jets-Jaguars pregame

The inactives are in and so is Derrick Blaylock. The six-year veteran, the team’s starting running back the first two games of the season, is back in the lineup after being inactive the last two weeks.

The press box flipcard actually lists Blaylock as the starter but Kevan Barlow will be in for the first play.

And despite being questioned on his backup quarterback earlier in the week, Jets coach Eric Mangini has gone with the status quo, meaning Patrick Ramsey is No. 2 behind Chad Pennington and rookie Kellen Clemens is the emergency quarterback.

The complete list:

Jets: Clemens, RB Cedric Houston (left knee), FB James Hodgins (a mild surprise), LB Anthony Schlegel, LB Ryan Riddle, C Trey Teague (ankle), TE Zach Hilton and DE Dave Ball.

Jaguars: QB Quinn Gray (emergency), WR Matt Jones (hamstring), RB LaBrandon Toefield, CB Dee Webb, RB Alvin Pearman, DE Marcellus Wiley (groin), OT Richard Collier and DT Marcus Stroud (ankle/groin).

DL C.J. Mosley, acquired from Minnesota in the preseason for QB Brooks Bollinger, is active for the first time this season.

Weather is beautiful and Alltel Stadium is very, very blue. Had the Jaguars had chosen to wear their light blue jerseys, instead of their all-white combination, I doubt I’d see them against the background.

Also happy to report I made it to the game in one piece after spending the morning jet skiing on the intercoastal waterway with Newsday’s Tom Rock and the Star-Ledger’s Dave Hutchinson. Actually, you really have to do something stupid on a jet ski to get hurt if you’re not on open water. Still, I was zipping along at 51 mph.

It’s quite a rush. I highly recommend it.

I wonder if they have jet ski rentals in Cleveland, Boston, Minnesota or Green Bay, four of the last five trips for the Jets.

And to all you Mets fans: congratulations.

To all you Yankees fans: sorry.

To all you Jets fans: enjoy the game, I’ll try to check in at halftime. Any questions, let me know.
